The “2026 Young Scholars Forum on Petrology and Geodynamics,” hosted by the Chinese Society of Mineralogy, Petrology and Geochemistry, took place in Jingzhou from April 17th to 20th, 2026. ChemLab, a leader in laser ablation micro‑area analysis, actively participated with speeches, presentations, and exhibitions, highlighting its advances in femtosecond laser ablation technology and micro‑area solutions. The company’s innovations received positive feedback from experts, scholars, and industry peers.
Speech by General Manager Hu: “Along the Way, Thank You for Being with Us”
On the evening of April 18th, during the conference session, Mr. Hu Yonggang, General Manager of Shanghai ChemLab Instrument Co., Ltd., delivered a speech entitled “Along the Way, Thank You for Being with Us”.
He affectionately reviewed ChemLab’s commitment to laser ablation micro-area analysis for geosciences in China since the 6th Asia-Pacific Laser Conference in 2016:
1.In August 2023, the company’s prototype successfully completed validation at Northwest University and China University of Geosciences (Wuhan).
2.In April 2024, Genesis GEO was officially launched; its large-beam-spot technology contributed to the analysis of Chang’E-6 lunar soil samples.
3.In October 2024, a dedicated fusion system was deployed at the PetroChina Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration & Development.
4.In December 2024, ChemLab jointly developed the quartz U-Pb dating method with the Hangzhou Geology Research Institute of PetroChina Company Limited.
In his speech, General Manager Hu specially thanked Yangtze University (the organizer) for its trust in ChemLab’s technology. Yangtze University has installed two GenesisGEO systems and jointly developed a new scanning mode to further improve instrument performance.
He stated that every step of ChemLab’s growth has relied on careful guidance, valuable feedback, and strong support from experts. In the future, ChemLab will continue to move forward hand-in-hand with the academic community.

Parallel Session Presentation: From Fundamentals to Frontier – Genesis GEO Technology Iteration and New Product Launch
On April 19, at the parallel session “New Technologies and Methods for Petrological and Geochemical Research”, Ms. Liang Yan, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai ChemLab Instrument Co., Ltd., gave an outstanding presentation entitled “From Fundamentals to Frontier: Iteration of Genesis GEO Femtosecond Laser Ablation Technology and New Product Release”. She systematically introduced the brandnew product series of Genesis GEO.
Product Series:
1.Genesis GEO Lite: Optimized structure, compact design, enhanced vibration damping, redesigned flow field, and quick-release small cell for easier operation and higher stability.
2.Genesis GEO Ⅱ: Dual optical path design, supporting both solid standard addition and large-spot laser, greatly expanding application scenarios.
3.Genesis GEO Pro: Dual-wavelength output (343 nm / 257 nm), pulse width < 190 fs, delivering ultra-cold ablation for cutting-edge research.

Fusion Series:
1.Genesis Raman: Integrates laser ablation, Raman spectroscopy, and heating–cooling stage – a one-stop platform for fluid inclusion analysis.
2.Genesis LIBS: Combines LA and LIBS, leveraging LIBS strength in light elements to provide full-element, blind-spot-free analysis.
3.Genesis Clean: Ultra-clean enclosed system and large chamber for contamination control from the source, compatible with large and irregular samples.

The presentation received high praise from experts and scholars in attendance. Academician Wu Fuyuan (Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences) stated that ChemLab, as an outstanding representative of domestic instruments, has effectively promoted the process of instrument localization. He encouraged ChemLab to continue focusing on R&D, give full play to its technical advantages, and develop portable and field instruments to support China’s planetary science and deep-space exploration.
Popular Booth: Gathering with Friends to Discuss the Future of Technology
During the forum, ChemLab’s booth attracted numerous teachers and students. Visitors showed strong interest in ChemLab’s instrument series and testing services, especially asking questions about the performance of femtosecond laser ablation in analyzing complex samples.
Many long-term partners also visited us to learn about the latest technical progress and held indepth discussions with the ChemLab team on new methods and applications. The booth featured lively exchanges and a strong academic atmosphere.
Conclusion: Congratulations on the Forum
The forum concluded with fruitful academic exchanges and practical cooperation. ChemLab sincerely thanks the organizers, hosts, and all participants. We will continue to pursue independent innovation and provide superior products and services to elevate Chinese geoscience and laser microanalysis to new heights.
Congratulations to the 2026 Young Scholars Forum on Petrology and Geodynamics on its complete success!
